DIY upcycling: Make your Kallax shelving wonderfully colorful on the inside!

Project from Chris -

OK, admittedly, spacious, white shelves are a fine thing. They are a perfect match for any style of living and offer plenty of storage space. They can be used as space dividers and tidy up living rooms, children’s rooms, home offices or bathrooms. But they’re not unique. This is changing with our upcycling DIY with d-c-fix® adhesive foils in the colors natural, mint,

cherry and aqua. Give your Kallax shelving a new wonderfully colorful inner life by decorating the shelves on the inside. The result: A one-of-a-kind piece, like from the design store with ingenious color depth. Try it out – you’ll love the wow effect!

You will need…

  • d-c-fix® adhesive foil
    • Natural
    • Mint
    • Cherry
    • Aqua

  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure
  • Utility knife
  • Doctor blade

Let’s go

Step 1

Determine the dimensions of the inner surfaces of the shelf.

Step 2

Transfer the dimensions to the backing paper of the colored adhesive foil and cut out the pieces of foil for the first interior compartment.

Step 3

Remove the backing paper of the adhesive foil to a certain extent.

Step 4

Place the foil on the first inner surface and use the doctor blade to firmly spread it forward, working hand-wide.

Step 5

Then attach all other interior surfaces as well.

Step 6

Finally, cut off any excess foil with the utility knife.

You’re done!
