Upcycling: create storage by replacing cornflakes with magazines

Project from Alex -

Here comes a brilliant upcycling idea with an instant wow effect that’s guaranteed to make your life easier – and it all starts with breakfast. How? By turning the large boxes from cornflakes and other breakfast cereals into practical files for storing magazines and documents at home or in the office.

So, finish your breakfast and let’s get started!

You will need…

  • One roll of d-c-fix® in Oak Sheffield Umbra
  • One roll of d-c-fix® in Sonoma Oak Light
  • One roll of d-c-fix® in Sanremo Oak Sand
  • One d-c-fix® tool kit with smoother and cutter knife

  • 3 empty cereal boxes
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ruler

Let’s go

Step 1

Use the cutter knife to remove the top end of the box.

Step 2

Now, cut the front and the back sides of the box as well as one edge side diagonally downwards, and remove the cut cardboard.

Step 3

Now it’s time to do some measuring. Measure the dimensions of all sides of the box, transfer those outlines to the backing paper of the adhesive film, then cut out the corresponding pieces of adhesive film.

Step 4

Next, pull back the backing paper of the film just a bit, and start affixing the film to the box, working with the smoother inch by inch around the box.

You’re done!
