Damaged doors shine again!

Project from Eva -

Would you like to give your damaged doors a new look? With a little effort, you can give the doors in your home a new design.

You will need…

  • One roll of d-c-fix® adhesive film with the desired design
  • d-c-fix® application set with cutter and squeegee
  • Tape measure

  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Cloth

Let’s go!

Step 1

Before you can start cleaning the doors, we recommend taking the doors off their hinges, removing the door knobs, and placing them horizontally.

Step 2

Measure the area of the door which you wish to cover with film. You should add 2 – 3 centimetres on each edge so that the adhesive film is larger than the area to be covered. Then, simply cut to size with a pair of scissors.

Step 3

Cut the film to size.

Step 4

First, loosen the paper on the backside of the film for approx. 5cm and fold it back so that only a small portion of the adhesive surface is exposed. When the film is correctly positioned, press firmly. In order to adhere the film to the rest of the surface, pull more of the backer paper off with one hand and simultaneously press the film into place bit by bit with the film squeegee in your other hand.

Step 5

When all of the door surfaces have been covered with film, cut off the excess film with the cutter. To do this, pull the blade of the cutter slowly and carefully along the edge of the door in order to cut off the film. This will result in straight and clean edges.

Step 6

After you have completely applied the film and removed the excess from the edges, your new door is finished. Now, you can reattach the door knob and hang the door again.

You’re done!
