Transform old into new – give your chest of drawers a new look

Project from Alex -

Does this sound familiar? Scratched or simply outdated pieces of furniture that are still in too good a condition to get rid of them. We will show you in this simple tutorial how you can give your outdated chest of drawers a new look for very little money.

You will need…

  • An outdated chest of drawers
  • Two rolls of d-c-fix® Sanremo oak sand 90 cm x 210 cm (F3465375)
  • d-c-fix® application set (squeegee and cutter)

  • Scissors
  • Cloth to clean the surface

Let’s go

Step 1

First of all, clean the chest of drawers with a cloth to remove any possible residues to guarantee that the adhesive film can be applied evenly.

Step 2

Measure the parts of the chest of drawers onto which the adhesive film is to be applied and cut the appropriate pieces of film. Allow for a slight overlap on all sides so that the film definitely fits. The grid on the back will definitely help you.

Step 3

Now remove approx. 10 cm of the backing paper and start to apply the d-c-fix® film to one edge of your chest of drawers.

Step 4

Remove the backing paper bit by bit and use the squeegee to avoid any air bubbles. Tip: Always use the squeegee from the centre outwards.

Step 5

Finally, cut off the excess pieces of film with the cutter. With a little effort and new DIY ideas you will transform your chest of drawers and nobody will believe what it used to look like.

You’re done!
