White cabinet with storage shelf in vintage white wood look. The two doors of the cabinet feature glass inserts with semi-transparent window foil bearing a leaf pattern.

Scandi makeover: cabinets love this charming vintage wood look.

Project from Eva -

This DIY idea is a little like a vacation for the home! Because the makeover is inspired by Scandinavia, more precisely: the Scandi chic style. This living style has a very pleasant, clear and casual look, and it also looks great on your white cabinet.

With the d-c-fix® Shabby Wood adhesive foil and the Amena window foil for the glass inserts, you lend the furniture the fresh, lively Scandi twist that is simply irresistible and works!

You will need …

  • d-c-fix® Shabby Wood adhesive foil
  • d-c-fix® Static Premium Amena window foil
  • d-c-fix® application kit with smoothing blade & utility knife
  • d-c-fix® application fluid or spray bottle with water
  • Pencil

  • Measuring tape
  • Ruler
  • Cloth
  • Cabinet

Let’s go!

Step-by-step Scandi makeover with d-c-fix®

Preparation

You have everything you need? Then get started!

Step 1

Clean the cabinet storage shelf from dust and dirt.

Step 2

You can easily determine what you need in terms of adhesive foil with the help of the grid on the backing paper of the d-c-fix® foil: place the foil on the cabinet and mark the dimension on the grid using a pencil. Then add some buffer for covering around the edges. Cut the adhesive foil to size.

Step 3

Peel off the backing paper, place the foil on the cabinet and smooth it firmly into place using the smoothing blade.

Tip

Air bubbles can be prevented when covering by removing a small section of the backing paper at a time and working your way forward along the foil, centimeter by centimeter.

Step 4

If an air bubble has formed, you can pierce it with a needle or the tip of the utility knife and squeeze out the air with the smoothing blade.

Step 5

The crowning Scandi finish: cut Amena window foil to fit the glass surfaces of the cabinet. Then spray the glass with d-c-fix® application fluid or water and apply the statically adhesive d-c-fix® window foil to the glass and smooth it firmly into place using the smoothing blade.

You’re done!
